And once again Ramadan is rolling! I look forward for a better time this year. Let this be a month of peace, reflection and new projects.
I was blessed to start off the month with my wonderful friend Shireen Ahmed from Tales from a Hijabi Footballer, who also took me to my first soccer game (I know, I know! How can this be my first time…?!). We saw Mexico lose, Korea win, and we did a bit of work to smash the patriarchy by calling out sexism and homophobia among fans.
Moving on, some content focusing on Ramadan will come along in the next few days. In the meantime I am writing at Muslimah Media Watch, were my most recent work includes a review of Mona Eltahawy’s latest book. I am also writing for Love InshAllah, where I have been exploring love, dating and relationships. In addition, I recently wrote a piece for Hindtrospectives titled “Decolonizing the Mosque,” where I fuse some of my experiences as a convert to Islam and my acquired knowledge of decolonial literature.
I wish you all a wonderful Ramadan. Despite everything, I have much to be thankful for!
And now, some humour!
